the puppies get their dewclaws done

Yesterday afternoon was a huge day for the puppies. Not only was it their first car ride, the first time out of the house but it was the day they had their dew claws removed. We bundled them into a basket with a hot water bottle, put Pagan in the car and went off on a one hour drive to Hobart to the vet.

Pagan was wonderful. She never fretted, she just sat there calmly while we drove, just knowing her puppies were there. Once at the vet's the vet went over everyone and pronounced them good and healthy, very even in size/looks (they are!) and proceeded to do dew claws. It was quick and easy. Hardly any of them complained more than they were already from being held on their back and having their paw held. Pagan was offlead in the vet's office and watched proceedings calmly. She just wanted to know the pups were ok. She was really great, just like last time. I am so proud of her.

When we got home and everyone was settled in I re-checked everyone. And again this morning. Everyone is doing fine. Though I must say I dont appreciate getting woken up ever hour when someone is hungry and cant find mom! ugh. Especially when I start a new job today!

Do you not dock tails there anymore? I for one have grown fond of the full undocked tails, as my imports all have them,...............soon as I figure it out I will post pictures of them..............I did set up a account at the site mentioned, now to get the pictures here.

No, Mindy. We dont do tails here any more as its now banned. I like the long tails too as long as they are straight and not gay (or worse yet, curled over like a spitz tail - I've seen it... ugh)

I am hoping to keep the white girl (obviously I have a soft spot for whites!) but I'm keeping my options open at the moment... They're too young to pick yet.
