Hello all...............I am sharing part of an email I received yesterday from a buyer of a SP puppy from the  Nov.1 black litter here last year, it is being being shared with the writers/owners full permission in hopes that no one else has to to go through what she and her darling girl did..............

"Hi Mindy,

I am writing with some very sad news.  Last week we were heart broken when we had to euthanize our sweet Lizzie.  It was a very strange and sad series of events that led us to this end.....Lizzie became very ill, vomiting and diarrhea.  We took her to the vet immediately, and started IV fluids to prevent dehydration.  After two days, many tests and Xrays, they decided her intestines did not look right so they took her into surgery.  Upon opening her up, they found she had eaten and entire pair of pantyhose whole, and it had gotten stuck in her lower intestine.  They removed the obstruction and two feet of her bowel that had become necrotic.   Because she was young, strong and healthy they expected a full recovery.  Unfortunately, she continued to refuse food and water.  By the second day after surgery she was running a fever, and they found that the bowel had become infected and was leaking into her stomach cavity.  The prognosis for another surgery was not good, as she was so weak.  So after a week of hoping and praying for her recovery, I had to put my sweet girl to sleep.  It was one of the hardest things I have ever done and we all miss her terribly."

I was so very saddend/upset to read the above, even more so after talking with her today................so any and all you that have or may have SP puppies PLEASE keep a close eye on them, and if any problems arise get them to a Vet quickly as I think time is a factor in cases like this.

Sad this morning,

Mindy

What a terrible, sad thing.  I'm so sorry to hear about Lizzie's loss.   I feel so badly for her family.

Thats is so horrible. I'm so sorry! Though they cant blame themselves... no one could know something like that would happen unless they saw the pup with the stockings. Not that it makes anyone feel better knowing that.

I feel so sorry for this family.

Unfortunately, I have heard of other SPs and PWDs ingesting panty hose requiring surgery.  Apparently, panty hose are very appealing to dogs - guard them with your life, for their life!

Hi Mndy,
i am so sorry to read about your beatuiful puppy. I share your loss. I had to make the hard decision to put my Hennessy down several months ago and I am still crying. Heal in your own time, grieve at your own pace. We all understand and are very sorry for your loss.
Kind regards
Christine C.

Hi Barb,

I really feel for the family that had this puppy also, as they had waited quite some time for her, they sent me updates with pictures of her often, she was doing so well in her puppy ob classes..............only to have something like this happen is hard to deal with, over the years many Poodles have came and gone here...............this is the first time something like this has happened.......so please everyone..........be aware of what can happen...........

By the way good to see you here Barb...........I have enjoyed reading about your 2 on PSG   Smile
