Today the babies got microchipped. And I've also organised their shipping and pick up times. Sigh. They're going soon. I am already feeling sad and missing them. But you know... I cant love them all enough, not as much as they need to be. So keeping them here makes me sad too. When you have 6 puppies running around like a plague of mice, getting into everything, eating everything they find, ripping things apart, biting your toes HARD etc, you just cant take the time to love them each individually and play with them. Its overwhelming. So I do what I can but they do need their own mommy and daddy to love them. So, I am sad but I know I have to do it.

Frown  Oh Zefi,

You sound so sad!  I'm sorry it's almost time to say good-bye!  But like you said, they need their own mommies and daddies!

Do you ever have puppy reunions?  I've seen people do this before but I'm not sure how well it would work.  Invite the new "parents" back after six months or so for a romp with the family! Smile

I cant really do that as my pups go all over the place. The ones that stay here I will see often. The ones that live on the mainland I make a point of visiting when I go over for other reasons. I've managed to catch up with everyone at least once, except Zac who lives in Hawaii. I hope to see him again one day too! Smile

I've heard of reunions as well. We've done some informal things like that...just picnics and such in the area, and whoever can make it is welcome....and it's a general eskie event, not just one or two breeders. So, they can be a lot of fun. But Zefi's right..the logistics of her situation don't make that very practical for her.....and she seems to do what she can to keep up with her puppies...which is great!

As for needing to say goodbye...I agree, it's a bittersweet situation. Sad to see them go, but knowing they will be going to a new, loving home, makes it worth it.

Yeah,

I guess the logistics just don't work out well.  We've never actually had one either.  We've been lucky to have a lot of our puppies go to nearby areas so on occasion we'll see them at an obediance class/meet or at least at the service dog center where Julie is training, but it's bit hard to "visit with the kids when they are halfway across the country".

Give them all extra hugs and kisses in the days to come and know that they are all going to good homes because you hand picked them yourself! Roll Eyes

Right now I have Comanche on my lap eating my sweater. For some reason he's the one who's at my feet and gets picked up the most the last day or two. Wierd huh? Used to be Navajo was the one. Comanche is going to live with his older sister, Dallas, in Melbourne. Now that his mom has the internet on at home again I'll invite her to join us.

Here are a couple of photos she sent me last week of her son Christian and Dallas.

Cute pics! I'm surprised about Comanche....didn't think he'd be such a cuddle bug. Navajo had been for a long time...no surprise with him. But, guess they'll all learn to soak up the lovin'!

Look at how pretty Dallas grew up!

The puppies are leaving already?  How sad!  I bet the new families are excited though!
