Yawn!

I hate these few hours of the week the most I think.  It's still early enough that I'm awake and active but it's late enough to remind me that work is coming soon.  Bleh!

I meant to stop in and say hi over the last few days but I was busier than I thought I would be.  We are doing a bit of work in the barn and one thing led to another.... before you knew it, the sun was down and I was ready for bed!  Other than the outer metal shell, we've just about built the interior of the barn ourselves which in a way is incredibly satisfying but sometimes (when it's very cold or very hot) I think to myself that it would be much easier to hire someone!!!!!!  Oh well, then we wouldn't be able to step back and say "look what we've made!"  Right?  Um..... right.....

I think I just need one more day to my weekend and I'd be happy!

On the doggy front, I'm very glad that we decided NOT to go to a Flyball tournament this weekend with the rest of the team because it seems that the section of New York they were headed to was hit by an early season storm and was blanketed in SNOW! Smile

Of course we have a tournament next weekend which we DO plan on attending but what are the chances of two freak snow storms in one month?

Um, you don't want to know the chances of two freak storms in a short period of time....I've seen it happen way too often! We have a nice anniversary coming up this Halloween. It'll be 15 years since 1991. Anybody in the upper midwest knows that year as "the halloween storm"...and it's amazing, because people still talk about it to this day. Everyone remembers where they were, what they were doing, and what they went through. We had a forecast of 3-6". It started on Halloween.....mid-day (a thursday). It finally stopped snowing on Sunday afternoon.....three full days later! And the grand toll was rougly in the 3 foot plus range! We got walloped! For the first snow of the year, we were not expecting a huge storm like that! And a couple weeks later....another storm...and we got quite a few throughout the winter. I think it was the winter of 95-96 that I recall it snowing, storming, and deep-freezing constantly. Well before it was half over, I was referring to it as The Winter from Hell! It was awful. And for freak weather....the first week in October here....we got a thunderstorm....with lightning and all...this was just over a week ago! Lightning hit nearby here....apparently along the one fenceline out in the open field, along the woods. It must have hit in a few places....but it sure hit in a couple. It actually started fires along the fenceline! Not kidding....all these years that fence has been out there and nothing like that...but this one....flames! It was heading into the woods too....so it was poised to be ugly. Got it out...with the help of the Fire Dept, but it was quite a night. I don't like to underestimate mother nature anymore! But, hopefully you'll be fine if you do go to the flyball event! Just remember that Mondays are the start of the week that will bring you back to the weekend! Smile

Ah gee Michael.  I don't think I want you visiting Phoenix!  Sounds like you are a tad unlucky to have around!  Tongue 2

You probably don't want to hear about some other misadventures I've been through in life then, either, I guess! Wink But I'm not all that bad.....I do attract poodles and eskies, so there's some good to keep in mind! Smile

LOLOL  I actually remember the winter of '96 in my own area.  What was going on that year???  I was living in the northern tier of pennsylvania then.  There was a morning that we woke up and couldn't get the door open.  After a lot of pushing (and I'm sure a little cursing) we finally realized it would be easier for someone to go out the livingroom windo and shovel from the outside! hehehe. Nothing that bad here. Just rain. Then sun. Lots of wind. A heatwave and bushfires thanks to the wind. Then a frost that killed off about 80% if the fruit crops in the valley here. Nice.

Oh my!

No nothing THAT bad here.  I guess we've been blessed that we don't have any bush or forest fires in my area of the country.  I know to the west they do just about every year and it's hard to watch the news when they report how many houses went up.

No we just get ALOT of snow.... though not as bad since I've moved south Smile.  The dogs love it.  Ricky usually comes back inside with more snow in her coat than on the ground!  The greyhounds of course aren't really "snowdogs" but we have fleece coats for them! Smile Jordan the Aussie sort of plays snow plow.  We aren't really sure how old he is since he was a rescue but the vet guesses he was about a year give or take last autumn when we got him.  The first heavy snow was a fun one for him.  He's Ricky's "buddy" so of course they were turned out together.  She poodle bounced all over the place and he kept trying to eat the funny white stuff.  He would face plant straight down into it and then come up for air very surprised!

I wish we knew what they were thinking!

I know the people who get a lot of snow hate it, get tired of it etc, but we dont get a lot of snow in Australia, even in Tasmania who everyone thinks is freezing. We got a nice covering last year but its the first time in the four years I've been here. We only got a light dusting one morning this year. Nothing that I'd count as real snow. Not having lived with a lot of snow I love it and wish we'd get more of it.

Great on the summer. Not so great on the tyre. I'm off to work this morning. See how my back holds out. Ugh.

Well Tomorrow is NOT Monday already Smile but it will be a long weekend and I doubt very much I will be on at all.  We are going out of town for a flyball tournament and won't be back until sunday night.  Hopefully I will get lots and lots of pictures to share with you all. Smile  I doubt very much that Ricky will get another title since she is just too far away point wise but Jordan has a good chance of getting one.  Woo-hoo!  It's crazy what we do for our dogs.  If someone was to tell me that training and grooming and primping and waking up early and driving for hours then spend another dozen or so hours on my feet running around and in general acting like a lunatic (in the process losing my voice) was "fun" I would laugh at them.  But as we all know..... while we're in the thick of it, what ever "IT" is, we are having a blast.  And it's nice to know the dogs are having fun too! Smile

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi hi

The tournament went very well for all of us that went and the weather was great!  I hope everyone else had a nice weekend as well.  As I had guessed, Ricky gained points but didn't get her next title but Jordan did.  He got TWO!  So now he gets to run in the next one which is coming up in November.  Yeah!  Even though he's an australian shephard, I've decided he's an honorary poodle since he really does adore Ricky and he's a pretty cool dog! Smile

Zefi, is the house unaturally quiet now that the pups are gone?  You'll have to let us know how they're all doing as you get updates! Smile

Well done for Jordan!!! You must be very pleased with him.

The house IS quiet, but I havent had time to 'feel' it yet. I got home last night and got stuck into taking down pens and making the house back to normal. Its nice to be able to walk into a dining room again instead of a nursery... and to be able to walk around the porch without moving barriers! Smile

I hope that is anything, you are enjoying the peace and quiet and not having to "herd the pack" any longer.

We are very proud of Jordan.  He is an amazing dog especially because he was a rescue.  He and Ricky have bonded wonderfully.  She follows him everywhere though I'm sure a big part of that is her trying to steal away whatever is in his mouth, but it's still cute.  Smile
