Well done. I wont pretend to actually understand what that means, but it sounds impressive to me, who can barely get her dogs to listen!  Big Grin

Its great when they do well despite us huh?

Congratulations!!! only 2 to go!

I started trialling my almost 7yo standard boy. He has 1 pass for his CCD... not sure when we will enter our next trial... my mum has our 6yo  girl Freya entered in her 1st CCD trial on saturday... who knows what she will do! she has an amazing ability 2 'forget' how to do things! Evil creatures there are... LOL

Zefi, CCD is the new obedience title which has been introduced to encourage newbies into obedience.  All the heelwork is on lead and they do a recall and sit and down stay.  Our 3rd trial at the Goldcoast and there were, from memory, 37 dogs entered.

Good luck to you and your mum Capanash - I find the hardest part is my nerves - my dog is brilliant.

Good luck Caroline. Hope Freya and Victor do well.

I'm lousy at obedience. My dogs are brilliant at it... but I get bored! Well, the one hour plus drive into the city to go to class on a Sunday, after a week of driving in and out for work, plus driving to a dog show on Saturday, wash and grooming till all hours before and after the show, kind of make it hard to even THINK about getting in the car and going out AGAIN on Sunday!
(thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

Plus... Montana was doing so well in class 1. Then the test day came and we had a show. So we missed it and did MORE of class one till the next test day. Then we had another show. So we did MORE of class one till the next test day. And then we had a show.... Get the picture? They ONLY meet on Sunday's and they only test on meeting days. If you're busy then forget it. I got fed up of the whole thing and quit.

Congratulations!

Family, friends, co-workers, and strangers we meet all go on and on about how well trained my SPoodles are . . .I just smile because I know I'm no great trainer, or even a 2nd rate one!  It's just that I've got SPoodles!  LOL

I have some experience training dogs for obedience to Novice level. Two of my SPs have been trialled to Novice and my rescue mini,Panda, got her CCD title in three consecutive trials and three wins. I didn't train her until she was seven because she didn't have papers. To my disgust, I still can't enter her in the Sydney Royal, even though the CCC has seen the light and allows dogs to compete on the Associate Register.

Short story is, I have mainly handled poodles(the only dog) and would be happy to share my knowledge with any potential triallers.
Most poodles are "soft" so all positive training and don't bore the poms off them.Make it fun and unpredictable and be goofy. They have wonderful senses of humour.

I have had poodles for twenty years. I started with a rescue which was a "cross". Until recently I did obedience and have titled two standards and a mini.Three years ago I bought Jurado Lily Marlene and got into showing. I am very proud of her. She came second to Zefi's gorgeous "Montana" at The Sydney Royal. I also have Laura (10) and mini Panda (Cool. I adore them all.

It's always nice when one does a good deed and is repaid...I didn't intend to get a mini 7 years ago...but her puppy farm home had gone broke before they could breed her, thank goodness. and she (Panda) "asked" me to take her home...No papers, of course, so couldn't compete in official trials, until 18 months (or so) ago. Panda got CCD in three straight trials, winning all three. So, I thought, we'd better keep going....and do CD (companion dog/novice).

However, Panda has issues about strangers touching her - BIG ISSUES - and  "Stand for Examination" is a huge hurdle. (That's when you put pooch in a stand and leave it, then a judge strokes it from head to tail. Pooch is not allowed to move. Panda did not move her feet, but bent her body, and she lost points for that - tough judge! However, she still won, gaining her first "leg" of Novice. When I work out how to put photos up, I will add one.

Congrats to Panda and Merryl - they are a joy to watch in the obedience ring.
