Does anyone had any ideas  on what  type/brand of scissors to buy for a pet owner.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

At the moment I own a shih tzu and in the future hope to own a toy poodle. So something that I could use for both breeds would be good.I want to be able to tidy up Phoebe's feet, ears, and even up the sides a bit too. I have been using craft scissors and cheapie pet scissors from Big W so far and obviously they are hopeless.

I was thinking that I need some straights, curved and maybe some thinning ones?  Would that be right? What sizes do you think?

Price range would probably be around the $60-$70 dollar mark each(quickly hides post from OH!!) or would I be better off spending a bit more? I want them to last, but I don't want to buy really, really expensive pairs unless it is really necessary.

Thanks for your input,
Sandra

PS I really want some advice about clippers too but I will save that for another day Big Grin

so sorry sandra but i use exactly what you are already using... $4.98 craft scissors from BIG W. i like them because the ends are rounded, so less chance of cutting a pad, poking an eye etc... i have been using these for more than 8 years now. The Bathhouse has been operating for 7.5 years... and no complaints yet... (i can just hear all those professional groomers cringing, sorry i dont mean to offend). it is just what i am used to and am comfortable with..

Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!Please don't say that Carlene.

You are supposed to say that if you spend over a certain $amount you just wave those magic shears over and - SHAZAMMM!!! your little poochie will turn into a beautiful well groomed specimen that looks like they have spent the day at the doggy spa.

Now I will just have to face the fact (and Pheebs) and admit that I need more practice!!! Frown

Sandra (leaving now, head down low, to explain herself to the dog)
