the two types of worms, which i have unfortunately seen have been round worms, the angel hair pasta type, and the whip worm. i am becoming the expert. its horrendous. but we are coping as best we can.
the vet has told us that the worm larvae lives in the liver and then travels to her bowel where they become adult worms. and this is where they can be treated. as far as she is aware there is nothing i can give her to kill the larvae, so its a waiting game. this is why we are doing the tablet every 5 days for 25 days. then i will take the fecal sample to had tested.... fingers crossed. so far we havent gone more than a fortnight without seeing adult worms present in her faeces since september last year......
interesting to note that we havent seen anything in hazzas faeces. but i have been worming him every 4 weeks since november last year....

ANOTHER UPDATE
Pearl is doing really well, she has gained 2.5 kilos since she her torsion rescue at the vets before christmas.. she is gradually rebuilding her stamina. We can go to the beach and throw the ball in the water and she will retrieve it a dozen times. We are still feeding her 3 times a dog (i now remember why i dislike canned dog food) but she loves it and anything else we feed her. Because is it summer here we are living off the BBQ, so we have been giving her lots of sausages, (full of fat and easy to digest). Its a double edged sword, giving her all this knowing the worms are probably thriving, but we seem to be winning at this point.
I have todate given her 3 milbemax tabs at 5 day intervals. then I gave her a drontal tab after 7 days and she will get the last drontal on friday of this week, which will be a 10 day interval. then we are waiting another 10 days for the faecal sample, all going to plan I will do another faecal sample 30 days later.
I am confident in identifying the worms as 2 different types, round and tape worms.
I intend to give her a drontal and/or a milbemax tab every 30 days for the next 3 months.
So far so good.. and yes im a control freak!
thank you to all for your thoughts of us going through this, and i do hope it helps someone, no only pearly.

I'm so glad to hear that she's doing so well! That's great, Carlene. I hope it continues and you get good news with the next test. She sounds like such a sweetie pie.

another update....
so this morning my husband & I followed pearl around until she gave us her morning dump.... (oh how our life has degenerated to this, and we eagerily await it).... I instantly bent down and gift wrapped, while still warm ofcourse, and drove it to our fabulous VET.
so everyone is to keep whatever they have crossed in the hope the faecal sample comes back, larvae free!
but ofcourse, being the control freak i like to think i am. we will be doing a follow up sample in 14 days...
but on the positive side, her stamina is fantastic now and her weight gain, although not substantial, is wonderful at 21kg, atleast she isnt loosing weight.
I dream of the day when we are confident we are worm free, what a ride this has been.

We hope the end is in sight, but with something like this, you'll be on edge for months with every test and watching her stools, etc. But hopefully you're out of the tunnel and all will be better!

LAST UPDATE?
Well we are 99.9% sure its over....
I honestly think pearl is over it as well. We were meant to "capture" our last faecal sample last thursday, but owning an intellengent breed of dog, she was onto us... Every morning she had her 4 weetbix, inhales them actually. then trotts on over to the grass and has her morning urine placement and quickly followed by the morning bowel movement.... then we praise her and all is well till tomorrow.... Well do you think we could get that bowel movement, she has figured out every 10days we swoop on the sample... needless to say thursday came and went, friday came and went, saturday we take them into the dog beach and then breakfast with all the other poodles in newcastle... and it wasnt till the saturday that we could finally pounce on the faecal sample on the beach, rush it to the vets....
IT HAS COME BACK CLEAR... NO LARVAE, NO ADULT WORMS IN SIGHT!!!!!!!!
what a fabulous hard earned result all round.....
she is maintaining her weight at 21kgs and is very settled finally.
carlene harry who and the fabulous pearl the girl
ps. usually with rehoused babies the settling does take time, but i think the whole worm thing she just could relax within herself.....
