Finally!!!! That's a relief for you all.  Most of all for Pearl - she would have to feel a lot better.
So, everything is okay now, no more poo pinching Smile and you just worm her as usual??

everything is OK now, as you have said... but it will be at the fore front of my mind for awhile...
I am going to worm them again April 1st (it will be 8 weeks since her last worming tablet) then i will wait the usual 3 months, like everyone else is on....

thank you so much for your kind thoughts and support through all of this...
it truly has been a nightmare...

I thought this nightmare was over...................

Our girl, Pearl has just had, what we believe, to be the best 12months of her very young life todate.
She was playful, happy, eating well, socializing and beaching each week. she was a very healthy 24kgs...

monday of last week, while bathing pearl i noticed quite a large hard lump on her rear, between her hip & tail..
so off to the vet.  After a sample was taken from this area, when test was not really conclusive for anything that we were trying to think it may be... ingrown hair, anal gland absus, spider bite, bee sting etc etc..

after narrowing down everything that it wasnt... I asked my vet to release it. (thinking she would just come home with a drain and all would be well)...

We got a phone call about 5 hours later to come and speak to the vet....
A 5cm "thing" was scrapped from her hip bone ( which resembled bbq baby octopus, red and black) and our vet was still none the wiser, saying again she could tell us everything it wasnt and that she has never seen anything quite like this, especially its consistancy...

she reassured us that pearl was only turning 3 in January but there are 21 year olds that are diagnosed with cancer...  SHIT, CANCER, yes we heard right....
Our vet suggesting having it sent away to be tested, ofcourse we did... (results would take 10 days)

we took pearl home, with 6 stitches in her rear, right on her hip bone.. and she has been so good not even looking at them, let alone lick them once........ she was on pain meds for the first 4 days. the poor darling found it really hard to settle. she would attempt to sit down or curl up but just couldnt.. so our first night was sleepless but I just heaped a huge pile of pillows in her bed and she eventually just fell into them..

TODAY IS DAY 10!

our vet rang this morning to say that the "foreign matter was not a carcenoma (cancer)
but was consitent with a parasitic foreign body that had embedded into her hip bone"...

in conclusion ( and we dearly hope this is the end to this topic)
Pearl had had so much worm larvae in her system that resulted in this...

so again, please everyone worm your puppies and continue with the regime thoughout their lives...
you can only imagine the illness that our poor baby girl has gone through and the many sleepless nights we have had through this nightmare..

it all could have been prevented with a simple worming programme..

Oh the poor baby! Well at least you can thank God that it wasn't cancer, just something gross, and hopfully this will be the end of this; I saw how long ago this thread was started, to have to be going though this for so long. Best wishs and prayers going your way.

Bloody hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The poor girl.  Surely it must be all over now.  Surely.  Please send her heaps of cuddles from Phoebe and I.

I read this thread ages ago, and since then i have been really, really pedantic in making sure Phoebe gets her worming tablet on time, everytime.  So thank you for sharing this story with us.
