After taking a break over the holidays and not getting on this earlier in the week, hopefully we can get these back on track to a nice weekly arrangement. So....

For this week...we'll discuss Recommended Reading. Mainly what we mean is books, magazines, etc. Particularly books on the breed, grooming books, or even good general dog books you may be able to share with us. I've got a number of poodles books, and a ton of general dog books, but haven't read them all yet. Smile Someday, hopefully. But, let's hear what you think are good books and other reading sources on poodles and what you can tell us about them. Smile

A must have in every poodle owners bookcase must be EVERY NIGHT JOSEPHINE by Jacqueline Susanne.  It is quite old now, but is very much what we have all gone through with our babies..

Poodle Clipping and Grooming by Shirley Kalstone.

I just love this book.  It is just so interesting and informative.

Yeah I'm a dag - reading a grooming book and I don't even have a poodle yet  Red Face

I cant claim to have READ the shirlee kalstone book but I agree its a wonderful book and recommend it to everyone who buys a poodle and wants to learn to groom.

I have Every Night Josephine and LOVE IT. Its what caused my love affair with poodles in the first place! Blame it all on Josephine!!!!

The book I'd recommend as a poodle resource is Del Dahl's The Poodle. Its an excellent book.

For fun I'd recommend 50 Acres and a Poodle. I love that book! Smile

I love fiction, and for poodle fun I recommend all the Melanie Travis mysteries by Laurien Berenson.   They are humorous mysteries and all about Standard Poodles.  I love em!

Every Night Josephine sounds great!  I just hopped over to Amazon.com and picked up a nice used one.  Yippee!  Time to watch the mailbox. Smile

I started collecting poodle books back when I first had Jamie...but I mainly collect informational dog books. I have tons of general dog ones....but the ones I like are the ones that are different...less common. Like ones that are printed overseas or include information you don't find in most books. Older books are neat sometimes too. Found a poodle book....let me look here.....The Book of the Poodle by T.H. Tracy, from 1950 (mine is a 1958 printing of it)....found it at an auction in a pile of other books of all things. It's neat to see pictures and read commentary from years past on the breed! I love learning!

Anyway....wanted to add one general dog book that was recommended by a number of members on the eskie board:

The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell

Also...almost forgot...the link to Poodle literature on the Poodle History site:

http://www.poodlehistory.org/PZZLIT2.HTM

Which lists the following book:

The Poodle Room (London: Heinemann, 1954) by Kate Mary Bruce. Smile I think that shows up on ebay now and then....it isn't where the title for this site came from, but it is a great title! Smile

We'll start a new topic tomorrow....but some nice suggestions here for reading so far! Smile
