My little miniature is very pickey about his treats.  However, when I gave my cat some of his treats, Bentley (poodle)  raced over and ate them all, and proceeded to beg for more.  I think they are easy for him to chew.  My question, and I hope I don't get yelled at-ha  Is it OK to feed Bentley cat treats?  I think he likes them because they are soft.   Any other suggestions to good treats for a little guy  would be helpful.  Thanks Bru

Its probably not the best to give a dog cat treats (or cat food) as its generally too rich, but hey... a little chocolate mudcake now and then doesnt kill us, so a few cat treats wont kill him. Just dont give him too many!

You could try soft dog treats... I know there's quite a few on the market in in Australia, or you can make your own baked liver (without baking it too hard). But again, too much liver will give him the runs, so dont give him too much of that either.

I don't think we yell at anybody on this site.  Everyone is pretty nice and knows we are all learning as we go.  Smile

My poos have always loved cheese.  So they get that now and then as a special treat.  They also love veggies and fruit.  Heck, they love everything.  I've heard you can slice up hot dogs and microwave them a bit to dry them out for treats.

Cheese---that is great idea.  My Standard loves cheese, but I just figured it wasn't good for them.  Actually, I could fix a plate at the table and Elle would lap it all up-peas included.  I will try the cheese it on my miniature too.  I was just kidding about getting yelled at.  I use to be on a board and they could get pretty ruff--yikes.  So now, I'm a little careful as to what I say.  Thanks for responding.  B.

One of the reasons we made this site was to help people learn about poodles and share! No nastiness! Smile

Hi Bentley!  Partipoo1 here!  I discovered that my parti toy poodle, Domino, LOVES the string cheese.  I give him little bites though.  And, last night my husband made wild turkey and dumplings and my rat terrier is going through some jealousy and won't eat; so I put a little bit of the liquid from the dumplings on her food and of course, Domino wanted some; so I gave him a few bites and oh my!  He gobbled it!

3 cheese lovers here Tongue 2 Tongue 2 Tongue 2 Tongue 2  They all come running when they hear the cheese being unwrapped.  I actually use it as my training food so always have it cut up into little 1cm cubes in a container.

Something else I have used too.....It's called Bil-Jack dog food.  It's a moist food and here in
Texas, they have Albertson's grocery stores that have it in the freezer section.  That's what I used when my german shephard was going through obedience training.  Works like nothing I have ever seen.....she was CRAZY for it.....

I also give them raw carrots....they are funny, as soon as they see me pulling all the greens out they are all in the kitchen staring at me very intently.....
