hello
Tonight I fed my 5+ miniature poodle her first real RAW.  Previously I have been feeding her raw mince & chopped vegies with egg shells, etc.
She looked at the plump chicken wing with some interest, nibbling here and there, then with more confidence she really concentrated on it. But the greatest urge was to drag it off to some safe place (we have a terrier). I let her do this and finally I was absolutely stunned when I saw that she had consumed the whole wing, crunching through all the bone!!!
She later had a little other meat & some raw cabbage.

Any comments on how much (how many wings) she should consume for evening meal would be appreciated. Also should she receive anything else at this meal? or should I vary the diet for another meal??   Thanks.

Raw wings are meant to be the perfect balance of bone/fesh/skin. But yes, I would vary her diet with other stuff cause with wings alone she wont be getting everything she needs. I give Billy (a large toy) one wing for his dinner but the sp girls get 5 or 6. If they dont eat them they get less the next time. If they do they get one extra sometimes.

hi
Thanks for the response. At present I am feeding her a separate meal each day of raw mince, mixtures of finely grated vegetables, eggshell, a teaspoon of oil, & sometimes yoghurt/egg.
I'm still working out what is best & want to come to a definite decision on her complete diet, so I can keep all these items available & prepare in advance.  Eg. I like the idea of pulverising vegetables & freezing in patty tins, then keeping these in bags in the freezer.
I'm also keen to include more fish,(which she loves), organ meat, kelp powder & whatever supplement might be advised.

well I would love to have them.

Just wondering how often liver, etc should be given & how much at a time. My miniature is about 4kg.

She has such a different attitude to eating from our 7yr old fox terrier.  Tiggy (terrier) gulps at her food as though it's her first meal for a week!!   Cricket nibbles, smells & then may wander about..come back..watch Tiggy, then finally she eats!!   So I need to stand guard at meal times.. The dogs are very good at sharing, although again the terrier is quick at snapping up whatever may be available.  Roll Eyes
