(or at least MOST LIKELY here I come! LOL)

A few weeks ago two very good friends of mine from the USA started discussing an idea they both had, separately and simultaneously... (cue music from the Twilight Zone)...

That I should plan a trip to PCA next year and take Pagan over and breed her to an american male for her last litter.

Well the seed has taken hold now. A few people have grabbed a hold of it and are coming up with ideas and suggestions of how to get me and Pagan there, how to raise the money for the trip, how to convince me to go, etc etc.

Its all rather exciting. I've wanted to go to PCA since I first started showing poodles about 8 years ago. It'd be a dream come true!

So... now I'm trying to find ways to raise the money for my ticket there. for Pagan's ticket, for a stud fee, etc. I already have at least 3 dogs lined up to groom for PCA! LOL

I'm trying to think positive and my friends have forbidden me to think about details. All I'm allowed to do is paint till then!

Hi Zefi,
Merryl here. Do you want company? I would like to do the same thing with Lily if I can find a sire I like for her.(Open to suggestions) It sounds very exciting!

Until recently I did obedience and have titled two standards and a mini.Three years ago I bought Jurado Lily Marlene and got into showing. I am very proud of her. She came second to Zefi's gorgeous "Montana" at The Sydney Royal. I also have Laura (10) and mini Panda (Cool. I adore them all.

Hey ladies,
Let's think about this. I have arranged group tours in the past to Japan with students. Airlines/travel agents do do group discounts, and how much fun would we aussies/kiwis have on a group tour??! I am happy to do the preliminary investigations, but bear in mind: deposits are usually non-refundable, so think about your financial situation. Let me know what you think. It is much cheaper in groups....

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, Carlene, have been a bit busy with injured animals and getting ready for the Ekka. I think we (those of us who are interested in going to the PCA) should consider it a plan and get started on the organisation. No achievement occurs without a concept and then action. We have 8 months.

The Ekka is the Brisbane Royal Show (Exhibition- hence ekka)  Poodles were on today and I couldn't go as I had an appointment at the dentist Confused

Can't go to PCA (Poodle Club of America) either as I am not in that sort of financial bracket - but I pop in to see how the plans are going.  I just hope someone brings back a video and a marked catalogue. Big Grin Big Grin

Sorry Carlene and thanks Fluffy, for elaborating on the Ekka, a peculiarly Queensland word! I was there, missed Zefi, poor thing, but caught up with Coralie and Layla. Unfortunately, my girl, "Jurado Lily Marlene", got nowhere, but that's showing....she was happy and poodly and came home with me!!That's all I care about.

As for the PCA, it's hard to get costing unless we have a specific itinerary, and I want to see friends too, so I'm thinking, cost the air fare first. If you want to vary flights it is always more expensive, so if we want to go as a group we will all have to go and return together. What we do in the U.S. is up to the individual.

If everyone has their own itinerary it is better to plan our own trips and just catch up at the PCA. By the way, can anyone tell me the exact time and location of the 2008 PCA? I need that to make enquiries.

I've been pretty busy and not checked in for a couple of weeks. We should discuss possibly going over to PCA as a group and returning as a group but perhaps allowing for a bit of time in the USA for visiting friends?

I'm sorry I missed the royal.. bloody floods! LOL

Found on the AKC site about the 2008 PCA.
As I am on the East Coast I always thought there was only one PCA event - the one in Maryland held in June. Looks like they smartened up and are moving it from the heat of June to the rainy month of April.  Happy
However, to get to this info I had to go through the PCA event being held next month September 19 through 21 in Long Beach California!
So which PCA show are you referring to? Am pretty sure its the one in Maryland, but have to ask.
www.poodleclubofamerica.org has a bit more info about it  under National Specialty.

According to AKC rules they will not confirm the April event until September's is over. This is why everything about the April event is 'pending application'.
