vomiting

I don't think this is anything to worry about, but I would like to put it out there.  Oden has been throwing up from time to time. Not often enough to put a pattern to it as to feedings or walks, time of day.  The closest I can come to a pattern is that it tends to be when he's really excited,( I just came home from work, before we go to the park in the morning,)  I read that topic about the poor dog that ate the panty hose ( I am so sorry for you ); Oden ate the stuffing out of a comforter, but that was last week, he is still might be pooping it out, or it's any number of things this puppy manages to chew before we  can stop him. Cat poop is the best! The vomiting is not regular,( every other day, or so) and he has not lost his appetite, and otherwise seems fine. We are going threw a fussy eating stage, and have been making his food extra yummy with gravy and/or wet food, but it's not always after eating and does not always have food in it. He will eat Zeus's food, even though it's the same thing, or anything else we give him, just not his food. So I would not say his appeitite is down. He's only 7months, so I think it's just upset tummy.  The poodle book I have says not to worry, and vet visits get expencive fast to run a bunch of tests. At the same time I don't want to take any chances.  I guess what I'm asking is, is this normal?  Sunday I have off, and I was thinking of giving him some olive oil, staying home to take him out allot, and seeing if he poops out anything "interesting". I am now feeding him dry kibble, until this clears up. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Roland,  Can only answer for myself if I were in your situation - if the dog is not vomiting regularly and is still eating and putting on weight I would monitor.  Having said that - how much of this comforter did the dog eat?  and what was the filling made from?  I would not give castor oil - just be aware of what the dog is pooping out.  One of mine ate a light plastic bag when she was a puppy with no ill effects but I was terrified it would cause a bowel obstruction - from time to time my horrors pass bits of toys they have chewed up ( fur, filling and plastic)  I also knew a puppy who ate a pantyhose leg and vomitted it up one week later - very lucky puppy.  Good luck.

He seems to be doing better since we made his diet more bland. So he lucked out on the oil treatment.

When he vomits, what does he vomit?

The reason I ask this is cause I noticed with Pagan, when she was growing up, that she would often, intermittently, vomit up yellow frothy bile stuff. She would do it at different times, at night, first thing early in the morning, etc. I figured out it was empty stomach syndrome so I'd give her a biscuit to take to bed to eat if she got hungry. She grew out of it eventually.

My SP last chistmas ate some gold tinsel!! Ofcourse I didnt realise this until I found all of those gold nuggets in the back yard LOL If only they were real gold LOL

Our previous male Brown Standard ate one of my trouser socks. He came in from going potty and I noticed something hanging out of his butt. He was turning round in circles chasing it. It was the trouser sock hanging out (Yuck!) I had to get paper towels and pull it out. I felt like a magician pulling scarfs out of my sleave or something!
