I think I can finally annouce to the world that Pagan is pregnant! I've been waiting, not sure if she was, not wanting to jinx things, but now I know! I took her for an ultrasound this afternoon and I saw 3 puppies clearly! Their cute little faces and little feet, tiny ribcages and little beating hearts. The vet said its really hard to tell how many are in there, but at least 3-4 he thinks. I'm thrilled! Now to start getting set up and ready!!! Smile

I cant get over seeing the little guys in there, moving around, kicking their little legs, moving their heads. I love it later one when I can feel them moving under her skin.... and then seeing them when they are finally born... I love puppies! Smile

This is an AI litter. The father is a swedish import to Australia who is retired and fixed now at about 7yrs old.

The pups will all be black as he's been dna tested for colour. I've been impressed with his offspring which is why I picked him and he's a total outcross to Pagan. This will be interesting.

Yes, I remember 6.5 weeks! LOL Its the time you start wondering why on earth you did this breeding thing! LOL When they start following you everywhere you go, biting your toes and hanging off your pants. They're gorgeous and cute and so so naughty! Smile

I'd love to see photos!

Zefi!!!!!!!  That is wonderful, wonderful news.  Sending big hugs to Pagan, and wishes for a healthy pregnancy and whelping.

I hope you can post piccies and stories for us like you did for the last litter.  I just loved reading through them and watching them grow.

Sandra

They'll be arriving soon... hehehe. I want it to be a surprise. Smile So now you'll have to check more often wont you?  Pleased

It wont be a big litter, I mean even 6 (which isnt a big litter) is a handful, but I'm kind of glad about that. Somehow I feel I wouldnt be up to a big litter this time with work and all that. Last time I was lucky. I got a new job right when Michael arrived to spend time here and he was home to look after the pups and mom while I was at work.

This time I'm going to have to do a lot of really delicate juggling... Work, Christmas holidays, arranging for someone to come in and let dogs/puppies out on the days I'm working, feed puppies once they're older etc. I mean the first few weeks will be easy, but once they're up and about I'll be back at work 3 days a week (thankfully ONLY 3 days!) so for those days I'll have to arrange someone to come and stay a while during the day or drop in a couple of times to feed pups and clean up after them, change newspapers etc.

Its summer so if I'm not here to clean up after them I can just imagine flies getting in and yeech. The main problem is that my regular dog-sitter is busy at this time of year doing work at the raspberry farm down the road.... so I'll have to look at alternatives. Right now I'm seriously considering paying her young daughter who is really good with the dogs to come and stick around, feed them, watch tv and just play with them on the days I'm not here. Mainly when they get to the age where I want to have them outside for part or most of the day in the sunshine and shade and fresh air. I can never leave them outside when no one is home... I know she wants to do it, even if she can earn money picking raspberries, she'd prefer to be with the puppies a few days a week. So we'll see. It'll work out. Somehow it always does!

And yes, before you ask, I am planning on keeping one to show. I'll see what I get and play it by ear. But this will be the art litter (about time you say!  Tongue 2) so I'm already sorting out possible names - both call names and registered names.
