I know most of you don't hunt, but that doesn't mean you can't have the latest and greatest dog gear that the hunters have. Maybe you want to just be able to take your dog out in the cold safely, or on a boat trip. Look for a giant hunting store chain some place near you. I found some of the best dog gear there. It was much higher quality then any pet store I have been to. I found many different kinds of dog boots and other protective dog gear for any type of outing. They make dog vests to protect your dog just for taking him out in the woods, water, cold, snow, salt, ice, you name it. Even if your just taking him for walks in your area, they had some very specialized leads, collars, toys, bedding, you name it. Its really worth a trip. There are also a lot of websites with good stuff to. I will not advertise here so do a search for hunting dog gear, or bird dog gear. I wanted to help you people find the best quality stuff for your own purpose and I don't think the pet stores have it. I looked. I hope this helps you out. If you find some equipment you want others to know about please mention it here. I think this will be a good thing for a lot of people.

Thanks I never thought of going to a hunting store for dog gear. In addition to Oden our Standard Poodle, we have Zeus our Greyhound.  It has been very hard to find cold weather gear for either of them, and Zeus have very little fat, or fur needs coats, it's not a fashion statement with him. etstores normally only have sizes for small and medium breeds, and if you do find something its either kinda silly, or it's that blanket style that doesn't keep their chests warm.
Have you tried the boots? I feel stupid getting them, and I just think they are going to hate them. But there is going to be allot of rocksalt going down in our develoment soon, and that isn't suppose to be good for them.

I've bought a few things for the dogs at online hunting store before.  I don't have any of the links now, but there's usually some cool stuff to be found in those shops.

If you want links let me know. I want to get boots, but my dog is a puppy. I don't have a lot of cash right now. Next month when I have more cash the winter season may be just about over. My dog doesn't lick his paws, so I am not to worried about the salt. I do plan on getting him boots for sure next year. The last link has the most choices.

Before you spend a lot of money on dog gear check out the hunting sites first. Their stuff is much more heavy duty. I went and checked it out in person. If any of you have questions on any of it ask me. I may have looked at some of the stuff at the store.
