Hello... I just took in my first poodle ever, and he is a gorgeous male Standard. He's... um... white... but I think either really a cream or one of those apricots that fades to nearly white at maturity. He's three years old. He was quite a serious neglect case- filthy, badly flea infested, etc. He's been here a few hours. I have shaved him down, bathed him, put Advantix on him... and he is loving my huge yard, four Whippets, and two Goldens!! He is having a blast. He lived in a crate before... literally 24 hours a day. He's happy now at my feet. What a sweet, charming dog! I don't know if he's going to stay- for now he is a foster. I am so excited to be able to help him. I have always admired this breed's bouncing happiness and intelligence. Anyway, we live in Florida, so King, soon to be named... we don't know yet... will get lots of beach time.
Here's a picture of the pretty boy! Please be kind- I have NO clue how to groom a poodle and he was a wreck, so I cleaned his face, shaved his body, and left a topknot and the ears and a tail pom pom. Someone help me with scissor work! I do have dog grooming experience, just not with poodles. I know setters, spaniels, schnauzers, and show grooming for Goldens, Border Collies, and Shelties.
