Nicky, my nearly 11 year old male toy poodle started eating grass from the backyard as soon as he got up this morning.  He hasn't eaten his breakfast and is not interested in eating anything I offer him.  He went for his usual walk this morning but seems not quite himself, is quiet and not as energetic as usual.  Apart from that he seems ok.  I heard that dogs eat grass to make themselves vomit but I haven't seen him vomit yet. Should I be concerned?

He was better by lunch time, ate his food and was his usual frisky self.  Just a while ago I found a small patch of vomit inside, so he obviously felt better after doing that.

I heard somewhere that they dont always eat grass to make themselves vomit. Mine all have a nibble on grass now and then. They seem to like it. Smile

Either way, I'm glad he's feeling better!

Both of my poodles occasionally nibble on grass too but Nicky was definitely not himself that morning.  He wouldn't touch his food, seemed a bit lethargic and only wanted to eat grass. So I am assuming that this time he ate the grass to induce vomiting.

My salukis used to regularly "graze" grass. I think there are times when the dogs definitely know what their systems need far better than we do ours.,

Nicky was lethargic and eating grass for breakfast a few weeks ago.  He vomited it all up and was much better afterwards,
