ugh, the labbydoodle question is an insult for sure. Worse than if people ask if my eskie is a samoyed! But it serves a good time to "educate" them on the breed and the doodle problems, etc.

As for the "just for fun" comment...I would bet that's more along the lines of people not wanting to admit they have a "purebred" poodle. Being that probably seems more high falutin' than if it's "just for fun". Would be better if they said "not a show dog, just a pet, but they're still great!". But at least they've got poodles and hopefully that opens the door to them talking to more people and more and more learning about the wonders of the breed. Smile

Give me a purebred poo any day.  Cant handle all the oodle x's everywhere.  Just wish I could understand what the real attraction is that they would go for something that they have no idea what it would look like when it reaches maturity.   Mad

I think the attraction is...."misunderstanding" as well as some elements of "ignorance". If people really knew all about doodles vs. purebreds, the doodle market wouldn't be there. I think some people just "think" that doodles have things purebreds don't....especially like non-shedding, etc. And they buy the BS that the doodle breeders push on them about all that. If people knew more and expected the best, purebreds would be far more in demand and doodles looked at like dollar store junk. But, sadly, there will probably always be people that don't want to know much, and so just jump on the spin of those trying to push something that's less than what they really say it is.

My mom has a poodle in Costa Rica (which she bought there).  I think it's a mini.
