Hi,

My 2 white standard poodles are 9 months and 11 months.
Elvis is 11 months and has much more and thicker hair then Anouk.
He matts heavy and playing together is not helping ofcourse ;-).

They are in modern toilet (continental with hair on the back legs),
hope that I use the right name for it.

Cowboy Magic is hard to get in Holland, the Stuff and Ice on Ice I will purchase on the dutch webstores for grooming. I never used it but I also never had 2 showdogs ;-).

In the past I had 2 black standard poodles (senior resque dogs) and I used for the black / gray coat Summerwind. I love the blue ink like shampoo very much. On white I never used it but it was also possible I understand. I tryed it once on a jack russel of a friend of mine and he turned baby blue, hihi!
After extra rinsing I was ok but at that moment we where shocked.

Who has extra tips for me to get to this difficult stage of coatcare? My hands are itching often to shave it all off, but I know I will regred it so we deal with it. Elvis and Anouk will be showing again not untill november.
This summer we will be moving to the other side of Holland and I want to take the time to adjust for all of us.

I wonder if other dogs think poodles are members of a weird religious cult. (-Rita Rudner)

Claudia, each dog is different. Some do better in something heavy like Summerwinds or other oils, some are better with nothing in their coats but a light spray of leave in conditioner. You will have to experiment.

One thing I found which made life easier was to lie the dog down on the table on its side and use a dryer to blow the coat as I brushed. It helped to keep the coat separated as I brushed and it also helped to brush the mats out easier. I also would be able to work faster if I blasted through the coat first with the high velocity floor model dryer, that would help me see where the mats were, then I would lie them down and work on the areas where I saw the mats.

Clean dogs are much easier to care for too, so I always washed my standards who were in show coat once every 5 days. The cleaner they are the mess they mat.

Its hard work. And having two so young together at the same time is very hard. Good luck.,
