This is a topic of concern to me right now. Its the tail end of winter now and I want to spray the weeds in certain areas in order to prepare the ground for some spring planting etc etc. Normally I wouldnt worry too much... I'd spray one yard today, let it dry and only let the dogs out in the other yard for the day. Tomorrow I'd spray the other yard(s) and not let the dogs out in that area till the spray was dry. Of course, being foggy and frosty overnight means its never REALLY dry, but hey, thats winter, right?

So here's the question... Since Pagan is pregnant and I dont want to risk anything happening to her pups, I wont do it now. Would it be safe(r) to spray the weeds when the puppies are born, before they go out? Say in about 4-5 weeks from now?

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience on that?

I think that's a very sensible plan. In addition, if possible, I like to spray 24-48 hours before a rain is predicted, giving the spray (Roundup) a chance to act, but letting any residual spray be washed into the ground. I don't know that his last bit helps, but it makes me feel better.

Thanks Sue. Of course knowing it wont rain for 24-48 hours is the thing! LOL Here the label says a minimum of 4 hours drying time before rain, but even that you cant predict. Sheesh. Smile

What are the ingredients in the stuff, Zefi? You could do a search online for those ingredients (the active ones, at least) and "pets" or "dogs" or "dog" and see if anything comes up. Also.....would your vet have any advice on this? Would only take a call to get their opinion, hopefully.
