On Friday we, the standards of newcastle, lost our eldest duchess, lily. she was 11years old and had suffered epilepsy most of her life. On anzac day this year april 25, she suffered a bloat, with major surgery pulled through. In the past couple of weeks the epilepsy had been quite eratic, as she suffered unpredicatable seizures every other day or so. It was decided to euthanaise her today. As like all the Poodles before her, we were all once again present at the time of her passing and all wished her and a safe journey to those that had already passed. We all know that she has been met by Alice Bratski, (chocolate standard girl), Maxwell Smart(white standard boy), Stormin Norman(black standard boy) and Hennessy (black standard boy) who will now take care of one another.... this was evident with the Magnificent Rainbow that we were presented with, early Saturday morning at our usual weekly meet at the beach. Although we have lost all these Standards in the preceeding months we have also been graced with Harry Who (white standard boy), Oscar the Great (cream standard boy), Molly Moo (black standard girl) and Prince Stanley (an apricot standard boy) who will now give our pack longevity. We have no doubt that they will live up to our magnificent poodles that wait patiently at the bridge.Still leading our pack is Big Willy, a striking cream boy who will be 12 years in 4 weeks and Miss Zsa Zsa Bratski a black standard girl.
And the circle of life goes on.............. carlene and all the standard poodles of newcastle, past and present
